gadgets, new media, tech
Apple iPad, iPod, print industry, rich media
Just my observation but I believe the iPad will be a long term success story much like the iPod was and remember that changed everything.
People (which include TV, Film and Print industry people) are much too much into immediate gratification. They have to help out in reaching that sweet spot. It’s not up to Apple to hand it over on a silver platter. Apple has simply provided the vehicle to achieve it.
iPad is an advance in technology that we don’t understand yet. I am confident that this will be revolutionary for the future of the print and rich media industry.
That’s all I have to say

I found this quote today and it made me think about what Apple’s announcement might mean to the future of technology.
Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic.

I agree!

Apple, Apple Canvas, iLife 2010, iPhone OS 4.0, Macbook Tablet, Tablet rumors

It’s finally official – January 27, 2010 will be THE day that Apple announces it’s latest creation at a special event in San Francisco.
Am I Curious? Hell YES!
I predict a new iPhone OS 4.0, iLife ’10 and integration of all those components in this “newest creation”.
What do you think it will be called? iSlate? Macbook Tablet? Apple Canvas (if you interpret the invite design)?
Let me know what your guess is.

stuff from my life
art, canadian landscape paintings, george vine
On December 29, it was my birthday and I received this wonderful painting as a gift.
Obviously George Vine is very talented and I am a very lucky girl!
George paints Canadian landscapes, birds, Canadian brewery buildings, etc.
If you want to see more of paintings visit his site here.
Or comment here and I’ll see if I can set up a private showing if you are interested in buying one of his one-of-a-kinds.

Amazon Kindle, Amazon Kindle DX, CES, Cool-ER Intereads, DMC Copia Reader, ebook readers, Entourage eDge, Fujitsu FLEPia, Hanvon ebook reader, iRiver eReader, Plastic Logic Que, Samsung E6, Skiff eBook Reader
I was looking at some CES highlights and one thing (okay 2 things) were obvious to me. One: 3D TV’s but that’s not what this post is about, and Two: eBook Readers!
At CES this year, there were no less than 11 eBook Reader offerings. Here’s the breakdown:
- E6 and E101 – Samsung
- FLEPia – Fujitsu
- iRiver
- DMC Copia Reader
- Entourage eDge
- Alex eReader – Spring Designs
- Skiff
- Que – Plastic Logic
- Hanvon
- Amazon Kindle and Kindle DX (Now available on a Global scale)
- Intereads – Cool-ER
Wow! Add the rumored Apple tablet to that and that means lots of choices. Yes this might mean confusion, but with this kind of competition, it’s the consumer that wins out.
I am more an audiobook reader but I still wonder who will win out in the end.
Here’s a link to Macworld’s article which covers the basics on each.
Which one do you think will win? Do you agree that eBook Readers are the future of the publishing industry? Let me know what you think.

books I've loved, books I've read, branding
audible, audiobooks, Crush It!, Gary Vaynerchuk
Just downloaded the Audible version of Gary V’s Crush It! this morning and I have to say “I LOVE IT!”
Even if you have the dead tree version (ehm, hardcover version), you’ll definitely want to hear the audio version. As with anything Gary does, he does it his way and I must admit that the “off script” stuff is totally worth it. They are like little gems!
Funny even HE can’t stick to his own words. Gary just bursts with such enthusiasm and yes, passion, that he cannot even contain his urge to “sidebar” himself. Ha!
Totally worth owning both copies!

Daisy Whitney, Suzanne Young, The Naughty List
Very happy
about this mention on Suzanne Young’s Blog. Suzanne is a young adult novelist and brilliant scientist. Not really. But she is a former middle school teacher turned zookeeper (mother). That’s all according to her bio. (hee hee)
Daisy Whitney asked me to design a T-Shirt for Suzanne’s upcoming The Naughty List young adult novel and the rest (as they say) is history.
Suzanne’s book is due out on February 4, 2010! That’s really soon, so save your pennies and buy it!!
I am tremendously honored to be part of it (even if it is like the size of a grain of sand).
Woot!

Now this is a cool idea!
A band called C-Mon & Kypski from the Netherlands have decided to add YOU (that’s right) YOU to their latest video.
This is the ultimate in collaborating with and engaging your community. I think it’s genius!
Check out how you can be featured in their video here!

foursquare, gowalla, iphone
I recently got an iPhone (for Christmas – yay!) and I’ve been playing around with Foursquare and Gowalla.
I’m not quite sure what the difference is right now. I’ll keep testing it and make sure I can develop a real user-experience opinion.
Do you have any suggestions how I can better improve my very Newbie experience so far for either? I’d love to hear it!
